Being a breeder

🐾 Do you know how many rejections it costs to be a breeder?

Being a breeder is not just about cute kitten and pride over beautiful cats.
It’s also a sea of unseen sacrifices and silent no’s—ones the outside world never sees.

🕰️ Time? There’s no such thing as “free time.”

You give up weekends, trips, and holidays.
You can’t go to the movies when newborns lie in the nest.
You can’t sleep peacefully if your pregnant queen is restless.
You can’t walk away from the incubator when a kitten is fighting for its life.
There are no “breaks” in breeding. Every minute counts.

💸 Money? It’s an endless investment.

Good breeding cats are expensive—very expensive.
Tests, genetic screenings, shows, travel, food, supplements, C-sections, meds, vaccines, supplies—it costs thousands.
Income? Sometimes, it disappears. Sometimes, you’re left in debt.

💔 Emotions? You learn patience and heartbreak.

When a kitten dies in your hands, and you’re powerless.
When a cat can't be used for breeding as hoped, and dreams are shattered.
When you must say no to someone who “just wants a cat”, because you know it won’t be the right home.
When someone you entrusted with a beloved kitten deeply disappoints you.
When you give your all—and in return, you get hate, jealousy, and gossip.

👩‍⚕️ No such thing as routine—you’re a breeder, but also:

🩺 a nurse/neonatologist
🍼 a foster mom
📖 a student of genetics
📦 a logistics manager
📷 a photographer
🧹 a cleaner
🧠 a psychologist
💬 a lifelong advisor to your kitten families

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family and friends? It’s not always easy.

“I can’t come, the cat is about to give birth.”
“I’m not going, the kittens have diarrhea and I need to monitor them.”
“No, I won’t leave them with someone else. It’s my responsibility.”
Not everyone will understand. Not everyone will stay.

❤️ But through it all… there is love.

Love for the animals, for their lives, for the betterment of the breed.
Love that makes you get up 10 times a night.
Love that keeps you from cutting corners.
Love that helps kittens grow strong—even when you’re sick or exhausted.

🐱 A breeder is not a “kitten factory.”

It’s someone who gives up their own comfort for the sake of the animals.
Someone who lives between joy and sorrow—and still wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Respect RESPONSIBLE breeders. Every single day, they give their all—even when no one sees it. ❤️
Breeding is not just about cute kittens 🥰
